A rare and beautifully adorned pair of French Empire candlesticks, crafted in mercury gilded bronze with exquisite butterfly motifs. The candle holders are elegantly shaped like baluster vases, featuring intricate scale and floral designs. They rest atop capitals decorated with delicate wickerwork and flowers, while the tapered shafts display an intricate pattern of stars spiralling down to bases adorned with lotus leaves and blossoms. The circular bases are further embellished with butterflies and baskets of flower garlands, symbolising transformation, rebirth, and happiness. This pair is in excellent condition, retaining their original mercury gilding....
