Stunning large pair of gilt bronze French Empire candlesticks
SoldVery large pair of gilt bronze French Empire candlesticks
This unusually large pair of gilt bronze French Empire candlesticks makes an impression with its royal proportions and its beautiful chiseled decorations. The large circular base has a ring of fine chiseled leave patterns on the outside, and a grooved ring of contrasting glossy gilding. These rings enclose the central part of the base which displays a pattern of proportionally large plants and palm leaves. On this base stands a pedestal with palm leave decorations, supporting a tapering stem ending in a ring of flowers and crowned by an equally richly decorated candle holder....
These French Empire candlesticks have been made with elaborately chiseled details and mat and shiny mercury gilding. They are in an excellent state of conservation.
