Bronze Sculpture Signed Picault
Bronze sculpture by Émile Louis Picault. The inscription reads “Sur le champ du labeur, la victoire est féconde”.
The sculpture has a very beautiful patina with subtle tones of brown and green.
Émile Louis Picault (1833 – 1915) was a French sculptor, best known for works depicting allegorical and patriotic subjects, and mythological heroes. Picault was a very prolific artist, with a long sculpting career. He began to show his artwork at the Salon in Paris beginning in 1863.
This bronze sculpture is signed “Picault” and has foundry marks from “Susse Frères”.
